Woodland Church

At Woodland we believe that every passionate follower of Christ should have a ministry that they are a part of.  Every ministry at Woodland runs because of the volunteers that make it possible each week.  We encourage everyone to find a spot where they can are using the gifts and talents that God has entrusted to them.  Below are common questions that will help you as you are looking for an area you can serve in.

Q: Why should I volunteer…I mean, do you really need me?
A: Volunteers are the heartbeat of Woodland. Every week it takes more than 100 volunteers to make our ministries happen, so, YES, we need you! Volunteering allows you to be a part of the excitement. You get to make a difference at Woodland and in the community.

Q: What ministries have the greatest need for volunteers?
A:
All of our ministries are in need of volunteers so don't delay, sign-up today!

Q: What if I'm not sure which opportunity is right for me?
A: We want you to find a ministry that is right for you.  We welcome you to explore volunteer positions with no obligation to commit. We also offer a class in our Discovering Woodland series that will help you to find an area that is right for you.

Q: What if I try a volunteer opportunity and find out it’s not right for me?
A:
That’s perfectly OK! We always want people serving in an area that best matches their gifts and abilities because that is when ministry is most effective. We give you the freedom to try an are of ministry that you are interested in.  If you find yourself not gelling with the ministry, we will help you to find an area that fits you.

Q: What can I expect?
A: Each ministry leader will provide you with a ministry description for your area of interest.  This will include the details of your volunteer position.

Q: What is the time commitment?
A: We have ministries that require only minutes and others that are hours.  Even if you have limited availability, we have an area that is right for you.

Q: Why do some volunteer positions require applications and background checks?
A: Woodland is committed to providing a safe and secure environment where integrity is at the forefront of ministry. Therefore, some volunteer opportunities require applications and background checks. In these circumstances Woodland is committed to the highest level of confidentiality and we will only proceed to acquire background information with your signed authorization.

Q: Do I have to attend Discover Woodland or become a member of Woodland to volunteer?
A: We’d love for you to take our Discovering Woodland classes and pursue membership as you continue to volunteer, but it is not a pre-requisite. A few opportunities do require a Woodland membership, but these are areas of leadership or influence where it is essential to be fully supporting the vision, purpose, values, and beliefs of Woodland Church.
